Independent professional pension trustee specialist Dalriada Trustees has welcomed Shehzad Ahmad as a senior professional trustee.
Ahmad joins Dalriada from pension services firm Ross Trustees where he was a director responsible for managing schemes with between £1m and £3bn of assets under management.
During his time at Ross Trustees, Ahmad also worked as head of professional corporate sole trusteeship and risk transfer.
In this role, he was instrumental in implementing the Association of Professional Pension Trustees’ (APPT) Code of Practice, which, interestingly he co-authored.
Ahmad brings nearly 20 years of experience as a trustee to his new role.
He is fully accredited by the APPT and is an associate member of the Pensions Management Institute. He has also worked at the Pension Protection Fund, managing its legal panel.
Ahmad has a broad range of pensions industry experience, which includes journey planning and leading restructures. He has also worked on cases with regulatory oversight.
In addition to acting as a trustee of ongoing pension schemes, Dalriada also specialises in managing the transfer of schemes into the Pension Protection Fund where an employer has become insolvent.
Commenting on the appointment, Chris Roberts, Dalriada’s managing director, said: “The needs of our clients are currently evolving at pace, and attracting market leading trustees, like Shaz, gives us new perspectives and enhances our experience pool.”
Roberts added that Ahmad’s role will see him “further develop” Dalriada Trustees’ London presence, and to deal with the “complexities of the evolving market.”
Dalriada’s team of independent trustees is located throughout the UK and supported from administrative offices in Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and London.
Ahmad added: “I am extremely pleased to be joining Dalriada and was particularly attracted by the firm’s collaborative and integrated team-based approach to trusteeship.”
